Founder of Index in 2020, Francesco Sebregondi is the NGO’s executive director. He leads its investigations and is the editor legally responsible for its publications.

An architect and researcher specialising in digital investigation, Francesco worked as an investigator and project coordinator at the London-based research agency Forensic Architecture (2011–2020), where he led international investigations and co-edited the landmark volume Forensis: The Architecture of Public Truth (Sternberg Press, 2014).

He holds a PhD from the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths (University of London) and is an associate researcher at EnsadLab. His work focuses on the visual and spatial analysis of violence and on the production of evidence in media environments. He regularly gives talks on investigative architecture, open-source investigation, and the politics of evidence.
